hello. ps2 mouse driver is missing while ps2 keyboard is working. when plugging mouse to ps2 port , mouse is not working. when plugging keyboard to ps2 port , keyboard is working A new keyboard and mouse works fine with the PS2. My guess is there was some voltage changes to PS2 made on these new boards and that is why old PS2 stuff does not work. Got my keyboard working by using adapters to get it to USB. As stated, mouse was USB so just plugged it in. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists. Step 2: After logging in, update the keyboard drivers manually from Device manager and check if the issue is resolved. Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select Device Manager. Expand Keyboards, right click on the keyboard driver and select Update option. Follow the on-screen instructions. Have a Dell Studio XPS (i7, 16GB RAM, upgraded to Win 8 from Win 7) Has been running fine for several months. Mouse and keyboard do not respond in Win 8, yet work fine in BIOS. USB ports work fine otherwise, with detection of connection of other devices. Strangely the multi-media keys on keyboard work (calculator, email, IE, volume). To get the PS2 keyboard working you need the ApplePS2Controller.kext and AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext installed. Then go into the Plugin subdirectory of ApplePS2Controller.kext (recommend you use the Terminal for this) and remove the Mouse and TrackPad plugins ApplePS2Mouse.kext and ApplePS2Trackpad.kext (I just renamed them by appending a new When system is on boot or locked for some time, Keyboard will not function with any key.
