1.4 Port Dues: Port dues will be levied on all vessels entering the port facility. All charges are based on tonnage (tons) and or Gross Registered Tonnage (GRT) or Gross Tonnage (GT). Sea Freight. At a minimum of 30-40 days for a door to door shipment from China to Australia, sea freight has the longest lead time. That’s because ships move a lot slower than planes. Beyond additional preparation, ocean liners also move slower to save fuel (and money) whenever possible.
The port uses its workers and cargo handling equipment such as forklift trucks, cranes, and stackers etc. to perform this function. The charges therefore relate to the equipment and labor used. Removal Charges. This refers to late cargo documentation charges/penalties. Each port has a different tariff and allowable time before being charged.
This schedule is a summary of the port charges applicable to the commercial use of Port Kembla imposed by NSW Ports under Part 5 of the Ports and Maritime Administration Act 1995 (NSW), effective from 1 July 2022. Please note, however, that this schedule does not contain all the regulations and procedures applicable to charges at Port Kembla.
The use of the Port shall constitute a consent to the terms and conditions of this tariff, and evidence of agreement on the part of all vessels, their Owners, Operators, Charters, Mortgagees or Agents, the cargo Owners and Agents (Shippers or Consignees) and other users of the Port, to pay all charges specified, and
for the calculation and collection of port dues, marine charges and/or other dues.
